This is what weekends look like in our house. Notice how Tyler is all twitchy? Not sure why he gets like that when he plays the Wii.

Here’s this weeks sketch.  You have until next sunday morning to complete it.  I will choose a winner at random to receive a RAK from me.

Here’s what I di with it using scenic route papers.

Now for last weeks winner.  Thanks to everyone who took the challenge.  I put al the names in a bowl and had Tyler pick one.  the name he chose was JulieP!  Conggrats.  Here’s her winning layout

You can see this layout and more of Julie’s stuff at Playground of Memories

**Ok, so I’m a retard.  That’s Deanna’s layout but Julie’s name was chosen.  So they both win!  Yeah!  Here’s Julie’s layout

I also have somemore jewlery to share.

I am trying to get my etsy shop stocked up for the holidays so I’ve been frantically beading lately.  I was up until 2 am working on these.  Luckily I woke up this morning to a bright sunny day.  After all the tropical storm nonsense I felt like I was crawlingout of a deep, dark cave.  Of course, it’s raining now.

2peas saturday blog challenge-What is something that people don’t know about you?  This question would have been alot easier to answer before I started blogging.  Now I sometimes think that everyone knows everything.  Let’s see, people don’t know that i was a shy child.  At some point I decided to force myself to be outgoing.  Now I’m seen as an outgoing, confident person but deep down inside I’m still that shy little girl playing a role.

1. Opinion-Vampires are the new wizards.  I don’t know if it’s due to the popularity of the twilight series or if the twilight series’ popularity is a result of the popularity of vampires.  HBO has a new show by the creators of 6 feet Under called True Blood

About the show

Thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. “Cursed” with the ability to listen in on people’s thoughts, she’s also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill’s arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.

A sexy, scary new drama from ‘Six Feet Under’ creator Alan Ball, ‘True Blood’ delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris. Described by the Emmy®-winning Ball as “popcorn for smart people” and featuring a colorful cast of local misfits, ‘True Blood’ promises an intense ride.

. I’m embarrassed to admit it but I am all over it.  I love how the new vampires aren’t necessarily blood sucking leeches.  Instead of being horror stories the new vampire stories are based on the outsider paradigm.  They are the different kids trying to fit in. they have all the sexiness of Dracula but you don’t have to hate them anymore.  “It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s dangerous”(direct quote from the creator.  Move over Harry Potter.

2.  Layouts- I love using the We R Memory keepers divided page.  For this one I was just going to decorate the front and leave the back fairly plain.  Now when have you known me to be able to leave anything plain?

For the back I pretty much needed a place to stick leftover pics.  Unfortunately, I could really crop the 5 X7 small enough to fit in the pockets.  I ended up just sticking it on top and adding a few Autumn Leaves rubons.

3.  Weather- What can I say?  It’s still raining and school is now canceled for tomorrow.  Well, I’ll be damned if I was going to let this ridiculous excuse for a storm keep us in any longer.  The kids donned bathing suits and raincoats and went outside to thumb their noses at Fay.

So, it just keeps raining, raining, raining.  Last night was bad.  I mean Bad…with a  capital B.  The winds were whipping up like noones business and holy cow the rain…. I’m a florida girl so I know rain but this was unfriggenbelievable…….toally awe-inspiring.  We all know I’m a dumb ass so I decided to see what that kind of rain and wind REALLY feels like, up close and personal.  Well, let me tell you, it feels like a shit load of rain and wind.  I’m not a small girl but I was hard pressed to stay on my feet during some of the really hard wind gusts.  It was pretty damn awe inspiring.  In fact, I pulled up a chair and just hung out on the back porch for awhile.  It was better than the dribble that passes for tv these days (except for Weeds, it wasn’t better that that).  Anyway, I did venture out today and buy books for classes on monday.  I had plans to go to Ikea but the very small part of my brain that is capable of rational thought got a picture of me lugging a boxful o’ desk parts into my SUV…not pretty.  So I went home and havebeen blogging (I have a weensy addiction) and scrapping.  Here’s the results.

It’s a bit busy because I was trying to incorporate lots of challenges from sb.com……Doodling, swirls, Adorable with a touch of yellow and Friends.

Just got this one done.  For the sb.com K & co and color challenge.  The color challenge was to use ice cream colors.  had to be 75% chocolate and 25% each of two other  colors. I used strawberry and mint green.

A few things

Posted: August 20, 2008 in everyday life, jewelry

1.  I just stumbled across this really cool blog Lucy Jewelry.  Lots of information about jewelry.  this chick must love her some jewelry!

2.  So i was craving a hot fudge sunday from McD’s tonight. I’m not going to lie, I don’t usually deny myself when I really want something.  So I drag my butt out in a torrential post tropical storm monsoon almost getting in three auto accidents in the process. But hey, a craving is a craving, right?  So I get there and the pimply 12 year old in the drive thru informs me “we have already turned off the ice cream machine”!  WTF?!?!?  You have got to be kidding me!  I could have driven around town looking for a sundae but I really believe in karma and the universe just didn’t want me to have that ice cream.  So I went home and rigged a shake using a 2 year old weight watchers fudgesicle, candy left over from halloween (it may have been from 2 halloweens ago) and some creme brulee coffee creamer.  It actually wasn’t half bad but it was no McD’s hot fudge sunday.  I’m sure there’s some deep lesson in this but the great meaning appears to have escaped me.

3.  Why is it pouring down rain and windy as the bathroom in a bean factory.  the dang storm has long since passed and we are having the worst weather yet.  I am so over it.  Listen Fay…just stop ruining my plans!

Neil sent me this cool new game. I guess it comes with a special camera so that the cute little guy can “see” you and interact. So cool and no litter box!

I was bound and determined to switch gears from jewelry making and do a little scrapping.  So what do I do when my mojo runs screaming down the street in it’s underwear?  Find a challenge to point me in the right direction.  I have some pics from madison’s recent Brownie camping trip so when I found the Cosmo Cricket challenge at scrapbook.com, I knew I was on to something.  I mixed papers from a couple of lines (happy and dutch girl) and some chipboard and I was good to go. I used Tim Holtz (scrappin’ crush) crackle paint and distress ink.  Stamps are from Pink Paislee (owl and journal box in title) and impression obsession (journaling parenthesis thingy).  The darker blue made the whole thing look unbalanaced so I added the matching photo corners.  It’s not my favorite layout but I think it came out ok.

I also got some fun scrappy goodness in the mail today.  I am looking for a new kit club to subscribe to so I’ve been getting kits here and there.  I love this one from Scrapbook Obsession.

It should work perfectly with my camping photos.

Weather Update…..Looks like TS Fay is drunken weaving all over florida (thanks to Nicole from WLAP for that gem of a term) .  it is currently stalled just off the coast of cocoa about 45 minutes from here.  We still have some residual rain and winds but nothing major.  The kids were blessedly back in school today.  I really needed to buy school books for my self today but my campus was closed for the storm.  so that’s what I’m doing tomorrow, along with a trip to IKEA for another scrapdesk because 60 inches of space is just not enough.  Hubby is reading over my shoulder and just said “if I had a nickel for every time I heard that”….he’s a funny guy, huh?!?!?

Well after a trip to the gym and Target today the kids decided to actually behave.  By the time we got home the rain was coming down pretty steadily so we were stuck inside. They had a friend over and played Star Wars all day, giving me a chance to get some beading done with supplies I had on hand.  I seem to be in jewelry making mode instead of scrappy mode.  It’s usually the opposite.  Here’s what I came up with.

The first one was inspired by a piece that just sold.  I love this wire wrapping technique and plan on making a bunch of these with different stones.

The second project is a pair of earrings made with ocean jasper.  I just love the “fish eyes” in these stones.  Sorry the pic is so blurry, I took it during the tropical storm so the lighting wasn’t great.

I am also working on a multi strand pearl and cherry quartz necklace.  I am almost done with it but didn’t have the cones for the ends.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I’ll be able to pick someup tomorrow.  I hate leaving projects unfinished.

If you are interesting in these, or any of my pieces, check them out on my Etsy site LilyArt Designs
