1. Opinion-Vampires are the new wizards.  I don’t know if it’s due to the popularity of the twilight series or if the twilight series’ popularity is a result of the popularity of vampires.  HBO has a new show by the creators of 6 feet Under called True Blood

About the show

Thanks to a Japanese scientist’s invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures “coming out of the coffin.” Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. “Cursed” with the ability to listen in on people’s thoughts, she’s also open-minded about the integration of vampires — particularly when it comes to Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old living up the road. But as Sookie is drawn into a series of mysteries surrounding Bill’s arrival in Bon Temps, that tolerance will be put to the test.

A sexy, scary new drama from ‘Six Feet Under’ creator Alan Ball, ‘True Blood’ delves into the meticulously-crafted world of novelist Charlaine Harris. Described by the Emmy®-winning Ball as “popcorn for smart people” and featuring a colorful cast of local misfits, ‘True Blood’ promises an intense ride.

. I’m embarrassed to admit it but I am all over it.  I love how the new vampires aren’t necessarily blood sucking leeches.  Instead of being horror stories the new vampire stories are based on the outsider paradigm.  They are the different kids trying to fit in. they have all the sexiness of Dracula but you don’t have to hate them anymore.  “It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s dangerous”(direct quote from the creator.  Move over Harry Potter.

2.  Layouts- I love using the We R Memory keepers divided page.  For this one I was just going to decorate the front and leave the back fairly plain.  Now when have you known me to be able to leave anything plain?

For the back I pretty much needed a place to stick leftover pics.  Unfortunately, I could really crop the 5 X7 small enough to fit in the pockets.  I ended up just sticking it on top and adding a few Autumn Leaves rubons.

3.  Weather- What can I say?  It’s still raining and school is now canceled for tomorrow.  Well, I’ll be damned if I was going to let this ridiculous excuse for a storm keep us in any longer.  The kids donned bathing suits and raincoats and went outside to thumb their noses at Fay.

  1. laura says:

yea! take that Fay! (you know she’s going to hang on another day because of all that merry-making you and the kids did, right?)

And what kind of name is Sookie Stackhouse?! sounds like one of those “what would my porn name be” things from Facebook!

  2. Catherine says:

Well the kids look like they’re having a great time!

  3. Heather says:

cool layout! and here’s to hoping that Fay gets out of your way soon.

  4. Sue C. says:

Looks like everyone is hanging in there and having fun. Nothing like playing outside in the rain. Hope everything clears up for you soon. My Mom is in Boca and while she said they needed the rain, this is crazy!

  5. Bonni says:

LOL, those pics are great. I love the raincoat and bathing suit, LOL…

  6. Bonni says:

    LOL @ Laura’s comment about sookie stackhouse…lmfao…I think it’s very original..hahahahaha

  7. cindy says:

Makes me wish we had HBO-sounds like a good one! I hope Fay passes soon! And sure hope you don’t wind up with the water we had earlier this summer!!

  8. Janet says:

Can’t believe all the rain you guys have had. It’s terrible…stay safe!

Know what you mean about the vampires…the series is hugely popular right now among DD and her HS friends.

Great LO! I have a package of those divided page protectors but haven’t used them yet. Thx for the inspiration!

  9. Sheri says:

I am one of the few who may like “bats” and vampires… I’m not a goth person or anything like that… just an ordinary late 30’s educated person… so don’t feel bad for being interested in them… I wish we had HBO, I would be all over it too!

  10. Nicole K says:

I’ve read a LOT of the Sookie Stackhouse books, I’m thinking the show might have some of the book series elements. I don’t have HBO, but I’ll probably Netflix it once it’s out.

  11. Suzie Webb says:

Way to make the most of a scary situation….stay safe! 🙂

  12. Looks like everyone had fun dealing with Cabin Fever. It seems like every few years when they decide to move school start date up a storm reminds them why it is later in the year. First week of school and they have completed 1 day (unless you are a kindergardener the it is 0 days) and we have already wiped out 4 of our 5 storm days. Fay needs to move out because she is driving people crazy…

  13. jill says:

The show has potential. I think a vampire show/movie is hard to pull off without looking ummmm…cheesy. kwim I’m curious to know which came first. The vampire phenom or Twilight? I started with the Twilight series and have been hooked.

    Love the WRMK divided pages.

  14. pam says:

    Love the divided pages!
You can send some of the rain our way, we would love to have rain to play in, it has been way to dry here.

  15. zanne says:

Michael Easton as Caleb on Port Charles you know will always be my favorite vampire!!! But, I can’t wait for True Blood, guaranteed hit! Can you believe we have sun this morning, It has been too long. Love the divided pages you did.

  16. Pam says:

vampire show! Wow! I’m on the last Twilight book. I have mixed feelings about the series and the characters but still couldn’t put them down. I can’t wait for the new HBO show. Thanks for the information.

  17. Anna M-W says:

Shit….am I going to have to subscribe to HBO…
