Today’s the second day of school…..oh wait, it’s not.  The powers that be decided it would be a good idea to cancel school for a minor tropical storm (not even hurricane) hitting florida way south and west of us.  I know it looks pretty impressive but trust me, it’s nott  I am calling it the “non-hurricane that ruined my back to school freedom”.  When I was a kid growing up in Miami we had to walk to school uphill through category 5 hurricanes.  I’m exaggerating of course but seriously, it’s drizzly and overcast today but no worse than any other rainy florida day.  A perfect day for the kids to be in school and for mommy to be scrapbooking.  Tropical storm, my ass!  I don’t get out of bed for anything less that a category 3 storm.  What’s next, canceling school for every afternoon thunderstorm?  Ever since hurricane Charly any impending bad weather causes a panic…ie Governor Crist needs to cover his ass in case the stars are all aligned and a minor storm suddenly rages into some monstrous beast of a storm taking down water oaks and palm trees alike.  Never mind that before Charly, Jeanne and Frances, a storm of any kind hadn’t hit florida for 33 years.  That year was a fluke, not the rule. Note to Charlie (Crist)..it’s not going to happen this time. Please, please let my kids go to school tomorrow.  Pretty please with sugar on top?  Mommy has shit to do and a list of errands 8 miles long.  Give me a beak here, it was a long summer.
