I’d thought I’d take a break from the scrapbooking things to talk about one of my favorite things, essential oils.  In an attempt to be healthier and eliminate some nasty chemicals from our lives I’ve recently been dabbling in essential oils .  I went to a wonderful Young Living event today where I learned alot more about Green Cleaning with Essential oils and came home with a bottle of cleaner, carpet deodorizer and linen spray.  I had purchased a bottle of the condensed cleaner through a recent promotion but didn’t really know what to do with it.  IMG_2262

Here are a few recipes that I really want to try

Floor cleaner

  • 1 capful thieves all purpose cleaner
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 drops lemon oil
  • 1 tsp white vinegar

Oven cleaner

  • 1 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sea salt
  • 1/2 cup washing soda
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 10 drops lemon oil
  • 10 drops tea tree oil

These are just a few recipes I learned about today.  There are a million other uses.  Besides being better for you it is far more economical to buy one bottle of Thieves household cleaner and make all your cleaners than to buy them individually.  thank you to Jennifer and Jill for all the wonderful information.

When I got home from this event I found out that my son wasn’t feeling well.  Although I hate to see them sick I do like the opportunity to bust out my oils.  In his room I am currently diffusing this mixture. It seems to be helping him sleep and decreasing his headache.

I really like using essential oils as a first defense when the kids are sick.  I’ve also been using them to help with weight loss and managing my diabetes.  I am by no means anti medication but I find the oils are just another tool in my arsenal.  Feel free to drop me a line if you want any information or need any oils.  I am definitely not an expert but I have learned alot in the time I’ve been experimenting with Young Living.
