Twilight review

Last night I went to see Twilight with some friends.  Surprisingly we weren’t the oldest people in the theater but it was close.  The enthusiasm of the mainly teenage audience was contagious.  Having read and enjoyed the books in a guilty, don’t tell my friends kind of way I was looking forward to the movie.  I even went as far as creating my own tshirt saying since the neighbors kid lost the iron on decals that came with my third book.  Here’s what it looked like before I ironed it on my shirt.

I was a little wary of how the very long book would translate to film.  I really wanted it to be good.  Was I disappointed?  A little.  It was way too vampire lite for me.  Most of the movie was spent watching Bella and Edward gaze longingly into each others eyes.  I mean, I get it, the Cullens don’t eat people, but did they have to be so tepid.  Throw me a little more gore, even if it is just deer blood.  As far as the acting, i think Edward and Bella did a good job but Jasper……..huh?!?!? He looked like Edward Scissorhands with Asberger’s.  Very strange.  Edward was sexy and brooding and Bella was awkward and emo ish. The family did a fairly good job but I couldnt get past all the pancake makeup and they weren’t pretty as i wanted to be.  I thought the James and Victoria characters stole the show.  Now those are vampires……dangerous and sexy and more than a little bit dirty.  The action sequence in the ballet studio approached the intensity Iwas looking for but was too little too late.

Overall the movie was enjoyable but it just didn’t have enough intensity to make it great.  I give it a C +
