“The Zone” and fresh produce

The zone is a strange in wonderful place.  it goes by many names but around here it is worshipped.  anyone with more than one child can relate to it.  the zone is that magical place where both children are getting along.  In our house it usually happens when Madison invents a game.  She is the evil genius behind the zone.  If she isn’t into it then things quickly go south.  Todays session in the zone started innocently enough.  Tyler saved up all his chore and tooth fairy money and wanted to go to Target to use some of it.  He settled on a Bionical.  for those of you not in the know, these are a bane to all parents’ existance.  They are lego kits with about 6 million pieces.  When put together correctly they create fantastical robotic type creatures.  I informed Tyler that he was welcome to use his hard earned money on one of these monstrosities but I sure as shit (I didn’t say shit to him, I am just using it for effect) wasn’t going to help him put it together.  i have the manual dexterity of a turkey gopher.  Madison chose to purchase a Bakugan toy.  Of course, she had to buy it on credit (ie by promising to do lots of chores so mommy would augment her $3).  You see Madison and money are comparable to a drunken sailor on shore leave.  It tends to mysteriously disappear relative to the worthless junk lining her room.  Anyway, Bakugan is her new thing.  Apparently it’s a pokemon type creation.  I just figured out Pokemon.  bakugan….not so much.  Anyway, back to the zone.  I never in a million years thought that these two very different toys would come together in a synergistical realtionship conducive to coorporative play between my usually feuding offspring.  Imagine my surprise when Madison offered to help ty put together his Bionical.  Not only did they figure the damn thing out, they did it without one fight.  It’s been 4 hours since the aforementioned trip to Target and my wonderful angels have been playing an odd creation of Bakugan/Bionical world which means that all is well in my world.  Hopefully it will survive the bedtime routine and carry over into tomorrow.  Wouldn’t that be nice?  i’m not holding my breath though.  Tune in tomorrow for our next installment of Madison and tyler world to findout if these two very differnt worlds can survive…ie mommy wonn’t have to yell for a whole afternoon…………

Kind of cool thing at work today.  Due to school i switched from my regular tuesdays to wednesdays.  Really cool since the produce lady stops by on wed.  it seems i rarely have time to get to the store to buy fresh stuff so we end up eating alot of canned and frozen.  this is what i got today.  To give you an idea of scale, that cantaloup is as big as my head.

I only have one child but I’ve heard about the zone from many of my friends! Around here, I have a “cat zone” instead! Enjoy it while it lasts!

Yes, believe me, I know about Bionicles. Remember, you only have one child that likes to buy them. I have two. Luckily for now, we’ve put the fear of God into them about leaving them out when the baby is around! How cool that Tyler and Madison got along so well for so long! Good luck on that lasting!

Each Bakugan piece consists of a marble that is rolled across the battle arena until it lands on a Bakugan card, thereby unlocking and transforming the playing piece into a particular fighting position.
